Granny's Birthday

Granny, Cameron's great-great-grandma, turned 100 last week! Here we are together. My grandparents also have a Watusi, a bull with really big horns. Cameron wasn't too sure about him but she did get up the courage to pet him.

On another front, we converted her crib to a toddler bed since she kept climbing out of the crib. I was worried she was going to eventually fall and get hurt. The first night went ok but I did find her sleeping in the rocking chair at one point. The second night she was sleeping on the floor when Brian went to check on her. So far she's at least staying in her room and sleeping so that's good.

First Day of "School"

We decided to put Cameron in a program at a local church 3 mornings a week so she can interact with some other kids (and give us a little break!). Wed. was her first day and she was very excited to go to "school". It's an all two-year-old class and there's about 8 kids in it. It's more like daycare with some structured activities and potty training, so she's on the waiting list for their 2 year old preschool class too. She'll be 2 years and 4 months on Feb. 6th (my 30th!!! bday too, yikes, how did that happen?!).

We visited the school once and went back again to register so she was pretty excited to go play and knew where she was going. There were no tears or anything when I dropped her off,. She just ran off and started playing. Wonder where she gets that independence from? Certainly couldn't be her mother (or grandmother)! She also came down with a nasty cold that day so when I went to pick her up at lunch time she was pretty exhausted both from playing all morning in a new place and getting sick. She's pretty excited to go back but I think we might miss tomorrow due to the cold though.

Snow Day

Geez, it's been like 3 weeks since I've posted anything. I don't know what I've been doing. Well, I do and I've been meaning to get some new pics up.

We went up to Flagstaff a few weekends ago to play in the snow with Cameron. Our snow day was pretty warm, around 45 degrees, so she had a blast and wasn't cold. We went to Wing Mountain recreation area where they maintain some sledding hills. Cam wasn't scared at all and was sledding down by herself after just a couple runs with mom and dad. She wanted to build Frosty the Snowman, so we gave it a shot but it didn't come out too great. I do have some actual video of her sledding but it's on the camcorder. I'll have to figure out how to get it on here. Here's the link to more pics too!

Christmas 2008

We didn't take too many photos this year but here's the few that we do have! This year was all about Dora the Explorer and babydolls. Even ones that really cry.

A little update on us all - Cameron is doing great. She's 2 years and 3 months old and pretty tall for her age. She can count to 20 and knows the ABC's. She learned a lot of Christmas songs this year including her two favorite of Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, of which she knows all the words and sings at least 10 times a day. She's learned how to climb out of her crib when she's ready to get out of bed now too. So far it hasn't been a big problem, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Brian won the SCCA Autocross National Championship in his class driving is Miata this last year. He sold it at the beginning of December to move on to a bigger more challenging class. He'll be driving a Corvette up against the other top drivers from across the nation this year. Hopefully Cameron and I can make the trip to Nebraska to watch the finale in September this time.

I've been busy with my rental business and of course Cameron. I've acquired quite an inventory over the last year and my extra bedroom is crammed full when it's not a holiday or prime tourist season. Fortunately it's been pretty empty over the last month but that also means that I've been on the go every day while everyone else has been off of work. It's better to be busy and making money than doing nothing though! Oh, and it's not an excuse, but my Christmas cards still haven't been mailed! Look for them soon...

Brian's friends got him a beer helmet, that of course Cameron had to try on. No matter that it's backwards...but it was still hilarious.
